Our doctors would love to call you back to discuss their patients but they are usually in an appointment or performing surgeries.  Please let our staff know what your question or concern is in as much detail as possible so we can have the best person call you back.  Our service representatives and our veterinary assistants are very knowledgeable and can help you with most questions.  They are also happy to consult with your veterinarian when needed.

Each surgery is unique. We would be happy to give you a detailed estimate for your pet’s surgery. For spays and neuters, please call our office with your pet’s breed, sex, and weight to determine the cost of the procedure. Dental procedure rates vary based on the severity of your pet’s teeth and would be determined by the Doctor at their preop appointment. A detailed estimate would be emailed to you within 7-10 business days. Every surgery requires a preop appointment and bloodwork.

Yes. For a few reasons. Most importantly, your veterinarian’s first concern is to check that your pet is healthy. Your pet benefits from routine well checks. Your pet’s doctor will check your pet from nose to tail including eyes, ears, mouth, lymph nodes, heart, lungs, abdomen, skin, and anal glands. Additionally, your veterinarian makes sure the vaccines are administered accurately and safely and in accordance with the law. Rabies vaccines are required by law to be administered with an exam. Also, the companies that make vaccines will guarantee their effectiveness only if given by a veterinarian to ensure they are stored, drawn and administered in the most effective way.

You can refill your prescription in four easy ways.

One, go to our online pharmacy, log in and select the medication you need. Their system will contact us for you.

Two, call us and speak directly to a service representative. Give them the following information:

Your name, your pet’s name, the name and dosage of the medication.

Three, if a person is unavailable, you can leave a message which includes all of the above information. We check our phone messages throughout the day and try to return every call the same day.

Four, you can email us at apcstanwood@gmail.com. Be sure to include all the information listed above.

Please note: Only our doctors can approve a prescription refill. When we get your request any of the above ways, we will contact your pet’s doctor to get approval. Occasionally, we can refill prescriptions at lightning speeds, but other times it takes a while.

We are across the parking lot (East) of the new YMCA in Stanwood and just West of the Everett Clinic. If you are on 72nd Street, turn west, go past the Everett Clinic toward the Y. You will find us on the back side of the building that has Village Chiropractic. Google Maps can also help you locate us.

We no longer do walk-in appointments. We think your time is as valuable as ours and we want to be considerate. We do have work-in appointments for sick pets available on certain days. Give us a call and we will let you know if we have any available. We also have a waiting list if you would like us to put you on it.

Yes! We are now setup to process Care Credit payments.

We are not. We believe our people should have lives outside of work and we try hard to keep hours that allow that.

We recommend that puppies and kittens be seen at 6-8 weeks, 10-12 weeks and 14-16 weeks. Puppies’ and kittens’ immune systems are just developing. To gain proper immunity, they need to be vaccinated multiple times. To properly vaccinate your pet and for their long term health, they will need to come back yearly.

We recommend that your pet is at least 6 months old. There are many factors that go into this. Most importantly, we want your pet to be safe undergoing anesthesia. Younger pets are at a higher risk of adverse reactions to the anesthesia. These adverse reactions can include mild swelling at the site of the injection, cardiac symptoms, anaphylactic shock or death. Being 6 months old or older greatly minimizes the risk. Please note that blood work is required for all surgeries and the procedure will be scheduled at least two weeks from the time the blood work is completed.

Pet foods are not created equally, and we want only the best for your furry loved ones! Hill’s, Royal Canin, Purina ProPlan, and Iams/Eukanuba are the only brands that comply with all of the recommendations from the WSAVA for animal feed companies. These guidelines are:

  • Products are tested by nutrient analysis using AAFCO feeding trials, and the results are published in peer-reviewed journals
  • They have specific quality control procedures in place to assure quality and consistency
  • They provide the nutrient analysis, including digestibility values and caloric value for their products
  • They have full control of the facilities that their products are produced while also allowing visitors
  • Companies employ board certified veterinary nutritionists to formulate their diets

Despite the grain-free dog food trend that has emerged, the growing research is linking grain-free diets to an increased risk in heart disease and non-hereditary DCM (dilated cardiomyopathy.) Many grain-free diets contain high proportions of peas, lentils, legumes and/or potatoes as the main ingredients before vitamins and minerals. Clients should be wary of any foods that list these in their top 5 ingredients.
